Prompted by three weeks of missed trash collection and accumulating containers of rotting garbage, the class-action complaint was filed on Simon’s behalf in Alameda County Superior Court and seeks to force Waste Management to repay customers for missed service during the labor dispute. Compensation and damages also are demanded.
The proposed class of plaintiffs includes thousands of Waste Management customers in Alameda County cities and unincorporated areas. They paid quarterly collection bills but didn’t receive service. |

Castro Valley resident Cindy Simons filed a class action lawsuit against Waste Management in Alameda County Superior Court today on behalf of thousands of East Bay consumers who say they paid their quarterly collection bills in a timely fashion but didn’t receive the collection services they paid for.
The lawsuit, filed by the San Francisco law firm Andrus, Liberty and Anderson, seeks to force Waste Management to repay consumers for missed collection services and for the expenses many residents and businesses ran up while being left to get their garbage and recycling removed on their own. |
